01 · The build

Game programming and computer opponent

I programmed a desktop Scrabble game in Python, using Pygame for the graphical interface. The project was part of my BSc Computer Science studies and included a computer opponent.

I implemented the board display, player input and game logic, and developed and revised the opponent’s move-selection algorithms.

02 · Interaction

Word entry, board updates and scoring

I connected the word-entry and tile-selection controls to the game logic. The interface displays the board, available letters, current turn and scores together.

The recorded demonstration shows a player entering and placing a word, followed by the computer opponent’s response. The screenshots on this page are taken from that demonstration.

03 · Proposed improvements

Interface changes I would test next

My priorities for another iteration would be better text contrast, a more prominent current-turn indicator and clearer messages for invalid moves.

I would then observe first-time players to see whether they can complete a turn without guidance. These are proposed changes and tests; I have not made them to the original academic project.
